What the add-on can access
Wordlight asks Google for two permissions:
documents.currentonly: read and edit the document the add-on is opened in, to find your words and colour them. It cannot open your other files, your Drive or your email.script.container.ui: show its menu, sidebar and help inside Google Docs.
What happens to your text
The add-on runs on Google Apps Script, Google’s own service. Your document text is read there only to find and highlight your words. It is not sent to the developer or to any third party, it is not stored, and it is not logged on purpose.
There are no analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the add-on.
What is saved, and where
- Your word lists and options are saved inside the document when you click Highlight, so they are there next time. Other people who edit the document and use Wordlight can see them.
- The colours Wordlight has used are saved inside the document, so Clear removes only Wordlight’s highlights.
- Default lists, if you choose “Save as my default lists”, are saved in your Google account by Apps Script.
None of these contain your document text. Word lists contain only the words you typed into them.
What Google keeps
Google may keep its usual platform records, such as how many times the add-on ran, under Google’s privacy policy. These do not include your document text.
